Mage macros

Mages are powerful spellcasters who harness the forces of magic to rain destruction upon their enemies. They specialize in the elements of frost, fire, and arcane, and are able to conjure food and drink, teleport across great distances, and create magical barriers. Mages are the ideal class for players who enjoy a more cerebral and strategic approach to combat.

  • #showtooltip
    /cast [combat] Arcane Explosion; Arcane Explosion(Rank 1)

Casts max rank in combat and Rank 1 out of it. Rank 1 out of combat is the cheap way to sweep for stealthed Rogues without draining your mana bar.

  • #showtooltip
    /cast [mod:shift,@mouseover,help][mod:shift,@player] Arcane Intellect(Rank 1)
    /cast [@mouseover,help][@player] Arcane Intellect

Buffs whoever is under your cursor, falling back to yourself. Holding Shift casts Rank 1 instead, which is the cheap version you use on a low-level alt you are dragging through a dungeon.

  • #showtooltip
    /cast [mod:shift,@cursor] Blizzard(Rank 1); [mod:alt,@cursor] Flamestrike; [@cursor] Blizzard

Drops Blizzard at your cursor, Rank 1 Blizzard on Shift for cheap stealth detection, and Flamestrike on Alt. Three ground spells sharing one key with no targeting circles.

  • #showtooltip Counterspell
    /stopcasting
    /cancelaura Ice Block
    /cast [mod:shift,@mouseover,harm,nodead][] Counterspell

Stops your cast, drops Ice Block if you are sitting in it, and interrupts. Coming out of a block straight into a kick is a standard arena and duel play.

  • #showtooltip
    /cleartarget [dead][help]
    /targetenemy [noexists]
    /cast [mod:ctrl] Frostbolt(Rank 1); Frostbolt

Drops a dead or friendly target, grabs the nearest enemy and casts Frostbolt — Rank 1 while Ctrl is held, which is the cheap kiting version.

  • #showtooltip
/castsequence reset=4 Conjure Water, Conjure Food

Conjures water on the first press and food on the second, always at the highest rank you know. One key replaces two that need updating every few levels.

  • #showtooltip Counterspell
    /stopcasting
    /cast [@mouseover,harm,nodead][] Counterspell

Cancels your cast and kicks whatever your cursor is over, falling back to your target. Counterspell is worthless if it arrives late.

  • #showtooltip Iron Grenade
    /use [@cursor] Iron Grenade

Throws your grenade at the cursor with no targeting circle. Replace the item name with whichever grenade you carry.

  • #showtooltip Arcane Power
    /use 13
    /use 10
    /cast Arcane Power
    /cast Presence of Mind
    /cast Pyroblast
    +1 more

Uses both trinket slots and your head slot engineering item, then chains Arcane Power, Presence of Mind and an instant Pyroblast.

  • #showtooltip Evocation
    /equip [noequipped:Staves] Soulkeeper
    /cast Evocation
    /equip [equipped:Staves] Hypnotic Blade
    /equip [equipped:Staves] Spirit of Aquementas

Swaps to a high-Spirit staff, evocates, then swaps your damage weapons back. Spirit drives how much mana Evocation returns, so the swap is worth real throughput.

  • #showtooltip
    /cast [mod:shift,harm,nodead] Frostbolt(Rank 1); [harm,nodead] Frostbolt

Casts max rank normally and Rank 1 while Shift is held. Rank 1 Frostbolt applies the same slow for a fraction of the mana, which is how vanilla Mages kite.

  • #showtooltip Ice Block
    /stopcasting
    /cancelaura Ice Block
    /cast Ice Block

Cancels your cast and blocks, then drops the block if you press it again. Ice Block clears most debuffs, so getting in and straight back out is often the point.

Every class shares the same macro syntax, so a good idea usually ports across.
