Mark a Target

Puts a raid mark on your current target. Marks are the anchor for every @mark macro in this library, so the leader marking correctly is what makes the rest of the group’s macros work.

Where to paste this

Type /macro to open the macro window.
Click Create, name the macro and pick an icon (or use #show <Ability> to mirror an ability icon).
List your abilities in priority order, highest priority first, one /cast per line.
Put abilities with no cooldown last — anything after them will never fire.
Add /suppressmacrofailures on the second line to silence "ability not ready" errors.
Drag the macro to a hotbar slot and bind it.

@self forces a friendly ability onto you no matter what you have targeted. Far more reliable than the older trick of typing your own character name into a /target line, and it survives a character rename.
Cast on Your Focus

Sends an ability at your focus target regardless of what you have selected. Set the tank or the enemy healer as focus and this becomes a permanent second target you can act on at will.

Casts at whoever your cursor is over, falling through to your current target. Works for heals and for damage, and it is the fastest way to react to a raid frame without giving up your target.
Interrupt Without Waiting

Cancels whatever you are casting and fires the ability immediately. Essential for interrupts and emergency cooldowns, where finishing your current cast first defeats the point entirely.

An asterisk after a spell name tells Rift the ability is off the global cooldown, so the macro keeps evaluating the lines below it instead of stopping there. Getting this wrong is the single most common reason a spam macro only ever fires its first ability.
Pet Commands

The three pet states that matter: passive stops it attacking, defensive lets it retaliate, and follow brings it back to you. Worth binding together for any Mage or Ranger soul with a pet.
Post to a Specific Channel

Rift maps its channels to short commands: /s for say, /p for party, /ra for raid, /g for guild and /y for yell. Raid leaders live in /ra, and knowing it saves a click every call-out.
Suppress Macro Failures

The line that belongs at the top of nearly every Rift macro. Without it, each ability in a spam macro that is on cooldown or out of range prints its own error, and a five-ability macro floods your screen with red text every global.
